A Noosa Experience
A group of volunteers from the Maroochydore Tourist Centre left the office by van to join with fellow volunteers from Caloundra, Glasshouse Mountains and Noosa to view some of the lovely attractions around the Noosa area,
We all met near the beautiful harbour village of Tewantin on the northern side of the Noosa River and started an interesting bus tour, thanks to Suncoast Pacific bus line that supplied the transport and driver.
First was the scenic drive along the picturesque river, then Noosa Parade with it’s lovely apartments, the Sheraton Resort hotel set on a canal, carrying on to the steep drive to Laguna Lookout to view the panorama of the town and surroundings.
Moving on to the Noosa Springs Golf Resort, everyone admired the magnificent clubhouse set among beautiful manicured gardens and a stunning lookout over the golf course.
We were allotted electric golf carts for a tour around the course and an inspection of one of the newly completed villas, mostly of which are privately owned. An enjoyable morning tea was served. The golf Course and Club House are open to the public, fees around $110 for 18 holes including a golf cart.
Our next stop was the Lake Weyba Cottages set among parklands, lot’s of space to enjoy individual privacy and natural beauty. There is a choice of styles featuring timber floors, a private veranda, a spa bath and all top quality furnishings.
On the move again, this time for a visit to the Robinson Family Vineyard, their wines are mostly produced at Ballandean on the Granite Belt of Southern Queensland, promoted and sold at their Noosa Valley Winery. There is also some tastefully furnished accommodation at reasonable prices.
Our lunch was served at the Noosa / Tewantin Golf Club which has recently been refurbished and is now open for social as well as playing members at very reasonable prices, there is also a top professional shop.
The Tewantin Boat House was quite a surprise, although recently having a fire in the kitchen, which caused extensive damage, we were able to view the three floors of bars and dining rooms with lovely river views, they will soon be open again, serving their gourmet meals.
The Islander Noosa Resort was the last stop of the tour, we were able to check out some of their two and three bedroom comfortable Villas, also the Lagoon pools, tennis courts, spas and gym. The staff also presented us with a lovely afternoon tea of cakes and savouries.
This ended a most enjoyable day for us volunteers, learning about and viewing some of the many highlights of Noosa, giving us confidence in suggesting places to our tourists.
A comical claim was made that there are seventy-eight round a bouts and three sets of traffic lights in Noosa and I’m sure they are correct.
